Part 10- Death
We spend the next thirty minutes searching the graveyard. City seems pretty intent upon finding something out there. When another ten minutes passes, City finds when he's looking for. He digs quietly with his tail, seeing as he can't use his hands. I take the time to help him dig, not wanting to just undo his straight jacket, just in case he decides that he wants to kill us or something. Even Kat begins to help. After about fifteen, maybe even twenty minutes of digging, City stops. Noticing this, Kat and I stop as well. City gets to his knees and brushes dirt off of a small box. I have no clue what's in the box, and I'm not sure I want to know what's in there.
"We can go," City whispers. As soon as that's whispered, a light swoops over us, one from a flashlight. Filled with horror, I turn and face the sorce of the light. It's the grave guardian. He glares down upon us. I can see his many stitches perfectly. He also has many odd markings. His blue eyes stare down upon us. His blonde hair is pulled back into a rather messy ponytail. A large cross is strapped to his back. My thoughts are interupted as Kat screams and freezes the man's ankles. City leaps back, away from the grave guardian. I roll away from him, wondering why I feel slow. The grave guardian, Lexi, manages to break free of the ice, and he glares at us.
"What business do you have here, digging up that which was buried for a reason," Lexi's thick accent makes him hard to understand. I'm not sure where he's from, but he needs to learn to speak an understandable language. Lexi sprints after City first. Kat leaps to the side and attacks with more ice. I distance myself and dig in my boot for one of my knives. I pull it from its sheath. This is getting bad. Lexi leaps at Kat now, and manages to have his arm frozen. He's out numbered greatly, and doesn't have the fighting skills of me or Kat. City stays out of the way, for now.
In a flash, Lexi has ripped the cross off his back and is smacking Kat across the face with it. The force was so strong, it knocked Kat off her feet and to the ground. I leap at his back, and plunge my knife into him. Lexi lets out an anguished cry and drops. I can't remove my knife from his back, so I hop away from him, to ensure my safety. I can't tell if Kat is okay or not, but she seems to be breathing. I make a mistake by taking my gaze away from Lexi. He's up quickly and has pulled my knife out of him. With a cry, he's rushing at me. My reaction time is slow, and he manages to catch my left shoulder. It's not a deep cut, but it's messy and it hurts like a bitch. Lexi turns to go after me again, but he back is turned against City, and City shoots his tail out and wraps it around Lexi's neck. In response, Lexi makes a sickening noise, like he's being choked. Right in front of my very eyes, City tightens his tail around Lexi's neck. He's going to break it. Unable to look away, I watch and listen as Lexi's neck begins to twist and make sickening cracking noises. Finally, City rapidly tightens his tail and a grotesque noise rips through the air. Lexi's neck bone emerges from his skin. When City lets go of his body, he drops and hits the ground, face first. My eyes are widened. Never in my life as an assasin, have I ever killed anyone in such a manner.
I manage to rise to my feet, and make my way over to Kat, who is laying down. She's still concious, but she's stunned. Slowly, I offer my hand to help her up. She takes it shakily. As I help Kat up, I glance up, and I see a girl with brown hair. The time is too early for anyone but workers to be up and out. My stomach twists and drops as I'm hit with a sad realisation. She looks like her. The girl I once thought to love. But I know that girl is somewhere far away, probably still living a happy life in Dulcin, with her parents to love her and take care of her. The girl with brown hair does not notice us, for she is working hard, to get out and run errands. Yeah, she's definetly a slave. My eyes look back to Kat. She's rubbing her head and frowning from the pain. I think of City and look to him, also. He's examining Lexi's body for anything he may want. Today will be a long day, I can tell.
Don't worry, there will be more, I already have a paragraph for part 11.
Yes, Lexi's neck was just a lovely thing to type about.
City is one sick bastard.
