Part 6- Healing Witches Make Miracles
I'm taken to the second floor via elevator and Deichi. He's very silent, yet he smiles. as the elevator stops, Deichi helps me walk out and we start down the long hallway. I want to talk, but I refuse to, because I don't trust anyone. Not yet. As we make our way down the hall slowly, Deichi begins to hum softly. As it begins to irritate me, I shoot him glares. Apparently he's oblivious to them, though, because he ignores me and keeps humming the tune. Soon enough, we make it to a door. Deichi knocks on the door and we wait for about thirty seconds before it is answered. With a creak, the door opens to reveal a beautiful woman, with long light purple hair. A single streak of blue runs down the longest bang. The woman smiles and motions for us to join her inside the room. Deichi moves and with him, I go along. The woman leads us into the room and motions for me to be put down on a table-like thing. I'm helped up onto it and I relax as I lay down.
"Hey there, so you're Reaper huh?" The woman says. At first, I don't want to answer her. Then, I sigh and decide it'd be better to answer her in the end.
"My name is-" I start, but get cut off by Deichi 'Shh'ing me.
"Oh Deichi, I already know his name. Almost everyone knows his name is Damien," She says, as she shakes her head," So I'm Mist, the Healing Witch. It'd be better if you called me by my alias, Juniper. We don't want the whole world knowing who I am."
"W-what's my alias?" I ask, curious to find out what they call me.
"Silly, it's Reaper. Or Grim Reaper. Don't go around spreading your name. You could easily be killed if you do that," Mist, or Juniper tells me. How generic, Reaper. Could they not come up with a better name? I mean, Reaper? How stupid is that?
"How many people are in this building?" I ask, wondering just how many people work here.
"Well, I'd have to say we have twelve assassins, and sixty-three workers, including myself....so about seventy-five people," She answers, sounding like a math teacher.
"Well, are you gonna help me fix my leg or not?" I start to get impatient.
"I sure will! Now, can I ask you to help me get your pants off? They're a bit too tight for me to work with," She asks reasonably. Of course, I'm embarressed, but whatever, at least I'm wearing the nice blue boxers. I shrug, and begin to help her remove my pants. She giggles and takes a good look at my leg. After carefully examining it, she begins to pull out the necessary supplies. They're not normal, though. Among her supplies are candles, bones, various wildflowers, and a light bulb. What the hell does she expect to accomplish with things like that? Shouldn't she be pulling out stuff to make a cast? Sheesh. Carefully, she lays my leg down so it's flat, and she uses a match to light the candles. She places them around my leg and she begins to chant. Whatever she's chanting, it's freaking me out. I begin to feel a weird tingling sensation in my leg, right where I broke it. Mist brings up the light bulb and starts smashing the wildflowers onto it. Though it looks weird, if it helps my leg, I'm all for it. Mist lifts up the bones and holds them up next to the light bulb. As she drops the bones onto my leg, she slowly brings down the light bulb. As it gets closer, it begins to light up, even though there isn't any obvious power source. My eyes widen in suprise as the feeling in my leg continues as the light bulb lights up and gets brighter. Mist's chanting starts to get quieter and quieter, until it's nothing. After she's done, she begins to clean up the mess she made.
"So what exactly did that do for my leg?" I nearly growl.
"Uhm, look for yourself," Deichi answers, in place of Mist. Slowly, I look down. My leg is no longer crooked, like it was when I first broke it. In fact, it looks perfectly normal. Immediatly, I go to stand up. Mist grabs my shoulders and makes me remain sitting down.
"Not so fast, it may LOOK a lot better, but it'll still hurt a bit and if you move too fast on your own, then it'll rebreak. It is mostly healed, but until it's fully healed, which will take up to a week, maybe two weeks, with my spell, you shouldn't move too much on your own. Especially not fast. David, here, will help you," Mist explains.
"He already knows my real name," Deichi says from across the room," Hannah said it. Stupid girl." I snap my head in his direction, feeling repulsed. Why I care that he called her stupid is beyond me, but I care enough to shoot him a dirty look. He walks over to me and puts a helpful hand out. Shakily, I use him to stand up. Though I have a feeling that I'm never going to even get close to trusting him, I let him help me out of the room and down the hall.
"Where are you taking me now?" I ask.
"To Wolfe's office. I'm sure he's got plans for you," Deichi replies, sounding bored.
"Oh. Well, can I ask a favor?" I question.
"Sure, Reaper, why not?" Deichi replies.
"Can you not insult Hannah in front of me. She's my partner," I say with a cold edge. At this, Deichi bursts into a fit of laughter. His eyes are even shut. It takes him a moment, but he does end up getting control of his rude laughter.
"I-I'm sorry Reaper, I didn't mean to laugh at you. I just think it's funny that you'd stick up for her, without even spending time with her, you see, I am her ex partner," Deichi says, trying not to laugh anymore," And she is just so annoying."
"Shut up, don't even talk. I can't stand your voice," I reply, almost yelling. I don't look at Deichi, to see his facial expression, but he goes silent and he continues helping me walk up to Wolfe's office. Finally, we make it there, after going through a maze of hallways.
"Oh good, you brought him here. How's his leg?" I hear Wolfe say, obviously to Deichi.
"She repaired it, but it'll be a good week or two before he can walk on it on his own. I sure as hell will not be arsed to carry his sorry ass around this place, Wolfe. I hope you know that. He's Hannah's partner so she should be taking him. Not me," Deichi complains.
"Sounds funny coming from you. You don't seem like the complaining type," I voice. Deichi shoots me a dirty look, but ignores my comment.
" I see. You don't like him very much. All right then Deichi, you can take on the new task then. Hannah, come here. I need you to carry Damien to room 404. That'll be his room," Wolfe says, as if he doesn't care that Deichi insulted me right in front of him. Yeah, some amazing leader he is.
"Okay," Is Hannah's reply. She walks over and takes me from Deichi. Instead of leaving, he waves us off, as if trying to pick a fight. Hannah smiles at him and begins to try and help my way too tall body out of the room. For someone like her, being like five foot, a six foot two boy is gonna be hard to work with. She obviously is struggling to help me walk, seeing as we have over a foot of height difference.
"Heheh, this is uncomfortable. I'm okay with helping you get across a room, but across a mansion is pretty difficult," Hannah groans. I nod in agreement and attempt to put more pressure on myself. A shooting pain strikes my leg and I just decide to not try anything else, in fear of making my leg snap or something.
Nearly an hour later, Hannah finally gets me to my room, Room 404. She opens the door and assists me in getting inside. Slowly, I smile, because the room reminds me of home. A twin bed in the very corner, next to the window, just how I like it. Hannah nearly pulls me over to my bed and she helps me lay down.
"There. You should be fine. I'm sorry that all you can do is lay around at this point. In a week, you'll be up and about, okay?" Hannah tells me with a reassuring smile.
"Yeah, yeah. Thanks and all, now leave me alone. I wanna sleep," I mutter.
"Okay! Have a nice nap!" Hannah says, and she gets up and leaves. When she's gone, I don't go to sleep, I just lay there and think. Hannah doesn't seem that bad. I can't stand that Deichi. Wolfe, I have no opinion on him yet. Mist....she seems kind, but I won't trust her until my leg is fully healed without any problems. After a while, I drift off into a day dream where my mother and father are still alive.
